Terms of use

Last updated: September 5, 2026

These terms apply to Punch O'Clock, published by Baan Software PTE. LTD.. By using the app you agree to them. The App Store's standard end user licence agreement also applies to the iOS app.

What the app is

Punch O'Clock is a time tracking and invoicing app. It records work sessions against projects you create, totals the time for a period, multiplies that time by an hourly rate you set, can export the result as CSV or PDF, and can assemble a date range of tracked work into an invoice document for a client you have entered. It is a record-keeping tool: it does not take payments, send anything to your clients, or communicate with them on your behalf.

What it costs

Nothing. The app is free, contains no in-app purchases and shows no advertising. Every feature, invoicing included, is available to everyone. There is nothing to subscribe to, restore or cancel.

Your data

The projects, sessions and settings you create are yours. By default they are stored on your own device and nowhere else. If you sign in with Apple or Google and enable cloud sync, a copy is stored in Firebase so it can reach your other devices; how that works is set out in the privacy policy.

You are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything you need to keep. Uninstalling the app removes the data on that device, and the export feature exists so that a record you need for tax or invoicing can live somewhere you control.

Accounts

An account is optional and exists only to enable cloud sync. It is created through Apple or Google, who handle the authentication; we receive a unique identifier and nothing more unless you choose to share it. Deleting your account in Settings removes your cloud data and leaves the data on your device untouched.

What the totals are, and are not

The hours, earnings and invoice totals the app shows are arithmetic on the sessions you recorded and the rates, rounding rules, tax rates and discounts you entered. They are only as accurate as those inputs. An invoice the app produces is a document assembled from your own figures, not a determination that any amount is owed or that any tax rate is correct. Punch O'Clock is not accounting, tax, legal or payroll software, its output is not financial advice, and you remain responsible for what you invoice and what you declare.

Acceptable use

Do not use the app for unlawful purposes, and do not attempt to interfere with, overload or reverse engineer the sync service. We may suspend access to the sync service where it is being abused; the app itself continues to work on your device regardless.

Availability

The app works without a connection and without our servers, which is deliberate. The optional sync service is provided as it is: we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may change or discontinue it. No feature of the app on your own device depends on it.

Liability

The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, Baan Software PTE. LTD. is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on the records or totals the app produces, including any billing, invoicing or tax decision made on the basis of them.

Changes

If we update these terms we will change the date above. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
